Wes Anderson’s Isle Of Dog’s Trailer Arrives Online
After dropping the first poster, and then a motion poster yesterday, our first look at the latest Wes Anderson film “Isle of Dogs” has arrived online. The Fox Searchlight produced picture is due to be released next year and has given us a 2-minute first look at what is clearly a uniquely stylised film.
Isle of Dogs tells the story of a new law that is put in place to send all the puppy pets of Megasaki City to a bleak landfill called Trash Island, A young 12 year-old named Atari Kobayashi goes on a mission to find and rescue his own special dog – Spots. With the help of 5 pawed pals, he goes on an adventure through Trash Island to rescue what his best friend.
A new poster was also released with the trailer.
Anderson’s distinct style is clear from this first trailer as we see a lot of his auteur traits that he is known for – the symmetry, the peculiar characters and storyline and a familiar cast of actors have come back another time. The film features a remarkable, diverse cast of both eastern and western actors which includes F. Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban, Bud Cort, Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, Akira Ito, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel, Bill Murray, Kunichi Nomura, Edward Norton, Yoko Ono, Koyu Rankin, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Akira Takayama and Frank Wood.
This is not the first time Anderson has turned to stop-motion to tell his stories. No one can forget his remarkable take on Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, which went on to be nominated for 2 Oscars, a Golden Globe and 3 Annie Awards. Anderson himself has been nominated 6 times at the Oscars. Could next year help him achieve awards fame? This will be Anderson’s first film in 4 years since the success of his last film The Grand Budapest Hotel.
