Double win for Magic Light’s ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ at 3rd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards
Oscar-nominated family entertainment creator Magic Light Pictures is celebrating success for its heart-warming film celebrating the magic of unconditional love, The Velveteen Rabbit, as it picked up two awards at the 3rd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards.

The film, which was launched on Apple TV+ in November 23, scooped up the awards for: Best Fiction Special and Phoenix Laroche who played William took home Best Young Performer in a Preschool, Children’s or Young Teen Program.
These latest awards continue Magic Light Pictures’ remarkable track record of success at the Emmy® awards, following its recent triumph at the International Emmys® in November where Tabby McTat won the award for Best Kids Animation. Previously Magic Light have enjoyed wins with Room on the Broom, Revolting Rhymes, Zog and The Smeds and the Smoos.
Based on the treasured, classic children’s book by Margery Williams “The Velveteen Rabbit” celebrates the magic of unconditional love. When seven-year-old William receives a new favourite toy for Christmas, he discovers a lifelong friend and unlocks a world of magic.
The 40-minute special features an all-star cast including the voices of Alex Lawther as the Velveteen Rabbit, Helena Bonham Carter as Wise Horse, Nicola Coughlan as Playroom Fairy, Bethany Antonia as White Rabbit, Lois Chimimba as Mechanical Car, Paterson Joseph as King, Clive Rowe as Lion, Nathaniel Parker as Brown Rabbit, and introducing Phoenix Laroche starring as William. Magic Light Pictures co-founder Martin Pope produces with a screenplay by Bafta winner Tom Bidwell.
Now in its third year, the standalone Annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards competition, created by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), spotlights the pinnacle of creativity and innovation in children’s entertainment.
