Ukraine’s LINOLEUM 2020 Festival Open for Submissions

LINOLEUM Contemporary Animation and Media Art Festival – the biggest showcase of short independent animation in Ukraine – has opened for submissions.

Launched in 2014 in Kyiv, each year the festival screens around 250 films from all over the world, offers workshops and lectures held by the field’s best players and a special program for children. The objective of the festival is to encourage and celebrate creativity among animators and media artists as well as promote contemporary animation and media art in Ukraine.

In 2020, the 7th edition of LINOLEUM will take place 2-6 September 2020 in Kyiv.

LINOLEUM offers 3 short film competition categories (with a max. running time of 30-minutes), including:

  • International Competition
  • Nation Competition (for Ukrainian directors)
  • Commissioned Film Competition (commercials and music videos)

With a further selection of ‘Out-of-competition’ categories:

  • Experimental Animation and Video Art
  • Animation for Children
  • Becoming Human
  • VR Animation
  • Ecoleptic (for films about ecology issues)
  • Ladies first (for female directors)
  • Erotique est Magnifique (for erotic animation)
  • Scary Tales (for horror films)
  • #killmeplease (for crazy, shocking, horrifying, embarrassing films)

The deadline is 15th May 2020, and with no entry fee, films can be now be submitted via FilmFreeway.

Only films made after June 2019 are accepted for selection. The running time of the film must not exceed 30 minutes. The list of selected short films will be announced 22nd June 2020.
