‘Weekends’ by Trevor Jimenez released online
This week sees the temporary online release of Weekends, the multi-award-winning short film by Pixar Story Artist Trevor Jimenez. In partnership with the ShortList Film Festival the film, fresh from picking up both the Special Jury Prize and Audience Award at this year’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival, can be watched online in full until August 23rd:
With a beautifully-executed pairing of design and animation set to an impressive soundtrack that firmly establishes its 1980s setting, Weekends is the story of a young boy who alternates between the disparate environments and personal lives of his newly-divorced parents, and his struggle to adapt to a new interloper in his mother’s life who triggers a series of intense anxiety dreams.
On top of its double-win at Annecy the film has amassed more than ten more awards, three of which (Annecy, Nashville Film Festival and Warsaw Film Festival where it received its World Premiere in October of last year) making it eligible for Academy Award submission. Other major prizes include Best Animated Short at Oaxaca Filmfest, Victoria Film Festival, Toronto Shorts and San Jose International Short Film Festival with Jury Prizes won at Anima Brussels and RiverRun International Film Festival.
