Thunderbirds Are Go – New Look & Audience Reactions
New images of character designs for the upcoming reboot Thunderbirds Are Go were released earlier today. CG reinterpretations of the classic characters Lady Penelope, Brains and Parker have been released by ITV and can be seen below:
The first image of the main team in full was released earlier this year:
Audiences have been somewhat united in their initial reactions, as evidenced on Twitter:
@skwigly Why does Brains look like Alan Carr?

@skwigly No. Really….. no. — Curtis Jobling (@CurtisJobling) February 26, 2015
@skwigly what @CurtisJobling said x 10.

@skwigly Penelope is the one I was waiting for …I need to see her in action before deciding that I don’t like her 😛 — Liam R. Findlay (@Pevalwen) February 26, 2015
Penny’s new look may have redemption if she gets out of the Apprentice candidate outfit #Thunderbirds @skwigly This> pic.twitter.com/y5j62yE6g8

@GarethCav @skwigly Nothing nuanced or stylish at all. Which is a shame. A lot of my mates, in UK and at Weta, have worked on it 🙁 — Curtis Jobling (@CurtisJobling) February 26, 2015
@skwigly @benlmitchell This is pretty nasty. I can see what they’re going for but they’re completely charmless. It’s like The Sims exploded.

@skwigly Lady Penelope looks like crap. Really really awful. Like something out of The Sims. — Howard Berry (@howardberry) February 26, 2015
@skwigly that’s awful.

@skwigly At least John is still hot.

It remains to be seen how the new look will translate to the animation itself, so judgement will be reserved until then. In the meantime ITV also provided a few video teasers last week to give a glimpse of the new environments the characters will find themselves in, as well as new addition to the team Kayo.
