The Minions and Chris Meledandri in Annecy

For Mifa’s 30th anniversary there will be a number of exclusive new featured events such as keynote speeches, idea-sharing opportunities with major industry figures and the first Mifa/Variety Animation Personality of the Year award.
Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO of Illumination Entertainment, has been announced as the first-ever recipient of this prize and has been invited to lead the keynote speeches at this year’s edition, held as always alongside the Annecy International Animation Festival.
Having grown Illumination into a leading producer of animated family features, Meledandri is the force behind the Despicable Me, Ice Age and the animated Dr. Seuss franchises which have collectively grossed over $4.9 billion worldwide. Upcoming films from Illumination include The Secret Life of Pets (2016), Despicable Me 3 (2017) and this year’s upcoming Minions, which will have an exclusive sneak preview screening at the festival ahead of its July release.
