The Boxtrolls Trailer Released
LAIKA released plans for their new feature film The Boxtrolls earlier this year. Today, over a year before it’s due to come out, they have brought us the first trailer, .
The film is based on the book by Alan Snow, Here Be Monsters. The story tells of a mythical world underneath the Victorian streets of Cheesebridge, where a gaggle of lovable trolls take it upon themselves to raise an unwanted orphan called Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead Wright).
The trailer offers a modern interpretation of different family units, with the animation demonstrating a return to the studio’s characteristic way of working with a hyper-detailed style and the use of rapid prototyping and 3D technology that the studio pioneered. With the company paying the utmost attention to every freckle, cobble and box, the film is sure to be a visual display like no other.
The 3D stop-motion directed by Graham Annable (Paranorman, Coraline), Anthony Stacchirom (Open Season) and the talented crew of animators at LAIKA is sure to be another success story and is set to be released on the 26th September 2014. We at Skwigly can’t wait to see what this groundbreaking studio can show us.
