Sky’s the limit for Morph!
Broadcaster Sky has today announced that they will revive Aardman’s classic character Morph.
Morph had previously made a return to the small screen thanks to a wildly successful crowd funding campaign which saw him revived for 15 episodes, some of which were also broadcast on CBBC. The new episodes of Morph will be produced by Aardman Animations and will be available exclusively on a new app which Sky is developing as a platform for children’s content that can be controlled by parents. The app will also feature characters from other channels found on Sky TV such as CBeebies, Nick Jr, Boomerang and Cartoon Network.
Morph began life in 1977 on Take Hart as the studio took its first steps. The studio is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year.
Alix Wiseman from Aardman said:
“Morph is very dear to our hearts and we hope that he and his mate Chas will entertain a brand new generation of viewers on this platform, as they have their loyal fan-base over the past four decades.”
There is currently no confirmation as to when the episodes will air so keep your eyes on Skwigly to keep updated. In the meanwhile catch up with our Lightbox interiew with Morph creator Peter Lord below.
