Sir David Attenborough honoured – Aardman style!
National treasure and world-renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough is celebrating his 90th Birthday today – a landmark date by anyone’s standards. The beloved TV presenter has spent most of his life tracking down and filming some of the rarest and most beautiful creatures on this earth, so what better way to celebrate this phenomenal man than giving the animals he loves their own unique voice and allowing them to speak openly about the experience of meeting him and sending a warm greeting on this momentous occasion.
The BBC asked the clever folks down at Aardman Animations based in Bristol (which is also where the BBC’s Natural History Unit is based) to create a series of Creature Comforts-style vignettes dedicated to Attenborough in which we meet the Lyrebird, some penguins and mighty gorillas! All picked to celebrate some of Attenborough’s most momentous TV moments.
The animated segments will be included as part of the Attenborough at 90 program at 7pm on BBC 1 tonight (08/05/2016)
