Skwigly Showcase – Success!
Skwigly kicked off 2013’s Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival Fringe Programme last night with a selection of our favourite animated shorts of the past few years. We’re pleased to say that the evening – held at Bristol’s Looking Glass pub and art space who were on hand with fine beverages and pint glasses boasting popcorn to munch on – was a triumph, with films playing to a packed house of the town’s enthusiastic animation community.
With a heavy focus on our online showcase, the selection also extended to work that has yet to be released online, including the wonderful stop-motion films Boles (Špela Čadež), Tchaikovsky (Barry Purves) and Butterflies (Isabel Peppard). Other included filmmakers spanned old Skwigly favourites such as Ant Blades, Will Anderson, Upstart Thunder, Rumpus, Paul Hill, Sam Morrison, Mikey Please and many more fabulous talents we’ll be covering in the near future. Check out the list below for the full line-up:
Many thanks to all the filmmakers who let us screen their work and to all of those who came down and made the evening such a success! Special thanks also to Steve Presence and Jude Lister from Encounters as well as Sarah, Joe, Des and Osh at The Looking Glass for their assistance and hospitality.
