RAKNAM
What is the film about?
Droughts, Floods and all kinds of water problems come around every year.
22nd March – World Water Day. This year RAKNAM project invites you to learn the importance of water management. Which will help solve water problems for our societies. Water is crucial and valuable so let’s be mindful when using it for lasting abundance.
What influenced it?
We want to bring the art form of stop motion into Thailand so so we created this piece as a springboard to learn and develop techniques, train our crew to grow and learn together as a team.
A little background information...
The initial brief from Coca-Cola was that in some areas in Thailand, there is too much water resulting in floods that destroy people’s homes and crop’s. Whereas in some, there is too little water which leads to droughts, making the villagers unable to grow food and make a living. Coca-Cola aims to help everybody get a fair share of water.
We took this concept and create a story from it. The cute water droplet and the gigantic water monster acting as metaphors to illustrate the fear and blessing that water can bring.
How was the film made?
We 3D printed the characters heads and hands and attached them to rigs ready for animation.
We gathered fabric from rural areas of Thailand where Coca Cola have used their Raknam initiatives, this was used to create the puppet clothes along with needle felt wigs for the heads.
