nudinits – Tickled Pink
What is the film about?
In a cosy corner of England there are a couple of things the villagers are far too polite to mention. Everyone is naked and there’s a huge double entendre in the room. In the world’s first all knitted animation, nudinits are the quirky inhabitants of Woolly Bush, a village bursting with Britishness and bare bottoms. Visit nudinits.com for more.
What influenced it?
Clangers, Trumptonshire, Thunderbirds, and Carry on…
A little background information...
Having learnt to knit from a young age Sarah’s initial idea of an all knitted world came easily but at that point the characters were fully clothed. She explains: ‘I happened to read an article about free hiking – hiking in the nude – and the image of a man rambling in the countryside on a freezing cold day, naked but for a pair of walking boots and binoculars rather stayed with me. It seemed to encapsulate British eccentricity at its best and so the characters ditched their clothes.’
How was the film made?
Every prob set and puppet is knitted. This is the 1st 3D stop motion film where everything in it is knitted. The filming it’s is very traditional stop motion shot with a DLSR. there is no CG, everything is captured in camera. some of the large landscapes required layers of images, but everything is photos of knitting.
