What is the film about?
‘Eyes Fixed’ is the latest offering from Scottish Album of the Year Award nominee, Mike Vass (www.mikevass.com).
In the official music video, animated by Gavin C Robinson, a man loses his way in a coastal landscape. The memory of loved ones helps him to find his way back to the light.
What influenced it?
The film draws influence from Scottish landscapes and independent comic book art as well as the themes present in the song namely the struggle for mental and physical well being.
A little background information...
Mike and I first collaborated on my degree film, Hart’s Desire, for which Mike composed and performed the music. Mike approached me to create a video for ‘Eyes Fixed’, part of his latest project ‘The Dead Stations’. Mike’s trad yet contemporary composition and songwriting reflects and complements my own combination of traditional and digital animation techniques and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with him in the future.
How was the film made?
The ‘Eyes Fixed’ official music video was created using an entirely digital workflow. Backgrounds and scene assets were hand drawn in Photoshop. The character animation combined frame by frame elements with digital “puppet” animation using Anime Studio Pro. After Effects was used for compositing and effects.
