What is the film about?

A mother tells her son the story of the red legged scissorman who always comes to little boys that sucks their thumbs…and cuts their thumbs clean off!

What influenced it?

I remember my mother reading The Story of Little-a-Thumb
by Heinrich Hoffmann to me as a child and it scared the life out of me!

A little background information...

I submitted the idea into S4C’s Shorts program that they were running at that time, and won a commission to make the film in 2003.

How was the film made?

It was made with traditional 2D hand drawn pencil on paper animation, then scanned and painted digitally using Animo software.
