Daniel O’Sullivan – Honour Wave
What is the film about?
Greg McLeod, one half of award winning animation duo The Brothers McLeod has been working on a passion project for musician Daniel O’Sullivan. Greg has created a promo for Daniel’s song Honour Wave from the album Folly released on Ogenesis Recordings.
What influenced it?
The images and mood of the film influenced by Daniel’s beautiful album Folly described by The Quietus thus:
It is is a sign of Folly‘s effectiveness that it frequently feels physically impossible to place attention anywhere else while being swept up almost bodily into one of the many hypnotic moments on an album where time becomes secondary to inhabiting O’Sullivan’s word- and music-streams of effulgent, charismatic genius.’
-Richard Fonternoy – The Quietus
This project begins a new visual journey with an unknown destination. A short film? A Comic? A web series?. A prog jazz concept album with accompanying book? Watch this space!
For now please enjoy this piece and the wonderful music of ‘Daniel O-Sullivan’.
A little background information...
The concept for this film came during a prolonged period of insomnia. In my hallucinatory state of sleep deprivation I conceived of an Earth that had been re-generated by a utopian biological artificial Intelligence.
Dragged from my subconscious were botanical drawings and paintings of Marianne North. The beautiful environments of Alberto Uderzo. The heady psychedelia of Heinz Edelmann and the album art of Rodney Matthews which I relentlessly copied as a child.
