Details revealed for second ‘Shaun the Sheep’ movie
Arguably the world’s favorite sheep and his flock are to come back for a second feature length film! Following their announcement last year that the strong box office performance of the original would allow the franchise would continue, Aardman and StudioCanal announced today that they will be starting production in January 2017. The film will be directed by Shaun the Sheep veteran Richard Starzak (Shaun the Sheep Movie, Creature Comforts) and produced by Paul Kewley (Shaun the Sheep Movie, The Farmer’s Llamas).
Shaun’s move to the big screen proved such a success with audiences around the world that he and the flock are very excited to be embarking on another big screen adventure. Aardman is partnering with StudioCanal once again to produce another rip-roaring comedy, featuring Shaun and the rest of the gang in a story that takes them to even greater heights of lunacy.

The exciting news is hardly surprising with Shaun’s last movie (also directed by Starzak) grossing $106 million worldwide. This film will of course follow on from director Nick Park’s currently in-production Aardman film Early Man, due to finish in 2018. This amazing news, not only for the the studio but for stop-motion fans and practitioners alike, serves as yet more evidence that the 40-year strong studio has no plans of slowing down.
