Reboot roundup: New Boomerang shows for Scooby & Bugs

// News

Adding to this year’s formidable glut of reboots are two properties who already boast a history of multiple iterations. As part of a relaunch of Boomerang, original content for the network is being developed for the first time, drawing on established characters from some of the most popular shows it carries.

Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! is the latest outing for the Scooby gang and the twelfth TV series, following on from recent efforts Get A Clue! (’06-’08) and Mystery Incorporated (’10-’13). The tone of the new series will be notably more comedic than the latter, going back to its sixties roots.

Each series will however feature notably redesigned character designs and, in some cases, retooled traits and personalities.

In announcements made early last year, both shows were originally slated to air on Cartoon Network (also part of Turner Broadcasting) before becoming part of the retooled Boomerang. Also included in the line-up, which is set to launch in the US this fall, is an animated adaptation of James Howe’s Bunnicula series.
