Even though the sunshine seems to have evaded us this summer, the lovely people at Aardman have worked their magic and are bringing us a fun-filled animated summer TV special starring all of the ‘Timmy Time’ crew.

The second extended length episode, named ‘Timmy’s Seaside Rescue’,  is due to start on CBeebies on Friday 13th July, with the DVD due for release on Monday 16th July.

The episode follows Timmy the lamb and his friends as they take a coach trip to the seaside. It promises the same adorable stop motion fun we have come to expect from this award-winning pre-school show.

As well as the television special, Aardman have teamed up with ‘SEA LIFE’, the country’s leading aquarium experience, to organize events that will be held from the 21st July until 2nd September at their Weymouth, Birmingham, Brighton and Scarborough branches.

In addition to the special screenings of the episode, there will be character costume meet and greets, arts and craft activities, toddler quiz trails and, most excitingly, a exclusive model making competition where you can win some fantastic prizes. Although adults aren’t allowed to enter, there should be the opportunity to help your young, budding animators create some great models and have a lovely summer experience.

For more information on events details can be found here:  http://www.visitsealife.com/

You may also see Timmy popping up at some charitable organizations this summer. In keeping with the summer time theme Timmy will be supporting the Royal National Lifeboat Institution charity (www.rnli.org) and The Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity (www.skcin.org).

‘Timmy’s Guide to Beach and Sun Safety’ will also be available to download from the ‘Pre-School Learning Alliance’ website (www.pre-school.org.uk), which will hopefully help keep your little Skwigly fans safe this summer.

Overall it looks to be a great chance to share some school holiday fun with your little ones. If you have to watch a lovely cartoon at the same time as getting a chance to go to the seaside, that can’t be too bad, even with the British weather.
