Polish Director, Martyna Koleniec, Releases Trailer for Debut Feature Film After ANIMARKT Award
Self-taught Polish animator and director Martyna Koleniec has released a teaser for her upcoming feature film ‘Bea & the Isle of Spells’. Koleniec made her name creating shorts, music videos and behind the scenes content on instagram where she now has almost 150 thousand followers. In her home studio in the Polish countryside she uses various techniques to create unique stop motion worlds.
After catching the attention of Warsaw-based Animoon Studios, she embarked on development for her debut feature film which is co-produced by Letko, FixaFilm (Poland) and Haus Boot (Czechia).
The project recently won one of the main prizes at Animarkt 2023, the stop motion forum in Łódź, Poland. The project has received funding from the Polish Film Institute for script development and is currently looking for co-production partners.
About the Feature
Bea & the Isle of Spells is about a brave and curious kitten that aspires to be a great witch. She lives on an island full of magical creatures and fascinating plants, in a house far away from the city with her father. One day bored and lonely Bea runs away from her overprotective father and decides to learn about magic in a local school in the city. By accident she’s bringing a mortal to the island – Calvin. As a non magical he’s strictly prohibited on this land. Bea and Calvin start their adventures there, where the whole island is against them. While searching for a way to bring Calvin back to his world, she finds out dark secrets about the island, her past and family.
