Podcast: “Lightyear” and “The Bob’s Burgers Movie”
In our latest episode of the Skwigly Animation Podcast we’re delighted to welcome special guests Angus MacLane and Galyn Susman director and producer respectively of Disney/Pixar’s Lightyear. “The definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear” stars Chris Evans and sees the beloved Toy Story character imagined in an entirely new light; the living, breathing hero on whom the toy is based, accompanied by a trio of ambitious recruits (Keke Palmer, Dale Soules and Taika Waititi) and a robot feline companion Sox (Peter Sohn). The film will be released in cinemas June 17th.
Also joining us for this episode are the filmmaking team behind the beloved, long-running series Bob’s Burgers and its recently-released feature length spinoff The Bob’s Burgers Movie – director/writer Loren Bouchard, co-director Bernard Derriman and co-writer/producer Nora Smith.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy®-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.
Also discussed in this episode – reflections of ten years of the podcast, upcoming Annecy highlights (including new work from Signe Baumane, Alberto Vázquez, Nora Twomey, Špela Čadež, Isabelle Favez, Joseph Pierce, Jim Capobianco, Pierre-Luc Granjon and NFB talents Lori Malépart-Traversy, Terril Calder, Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby), the inexplicable Better Call Saul animated spinoff Slippin’ Jimmy, the struggle of keeping up with sprawling fandoms and the surprise return of Beavis & Butt-head.
