Montreal/Madrid-based international sales and distribution company Pink Parrot Media (PPM) has acquired worldwide rights for the animated graphic novel adaptation Ultraduck from Arcana Studio. PPM will be presenting the title – alongside Laniakea Pictures’ live-action teen action comedy Graduation Heist – at the upcoming European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin, running 13-19 February.

Currently in production and set to be delivered in Q4 2025, Ultraduck is based on the source material of an award-winning graphic novel written by acclaimed Marvel artist Edgar Delgado that has been translated and published in over a dozen countries. The feature, which is being produced through Arcana Studio, is targeted at a co-viewing audience and kids aged 10-12 years old.

Carlos Bahia, a smooth-talking business duck, loves his drama-free life—until things spiral out of control. First, he fumbles asking out Lisa, the new HR rep. Then his bullied coworker, Horace, steals some alien-powered gauntlets, turning the office into chaos. When a cosmic entity ropes Carlos and Horace into saving the world, things only get weirder. Carlos ends up as the flashy hero Ultraduck, while Horace’s mishaps summon Omegallus, a city-destroying menace.

Between botched dates, workplace disasters, and city-smashing battles, Carlos learns to stop being so full of himself, and Horace figures out that revenge isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. With some unlikely teamwork, they take down a power-hungry CEO, patch things up with their coworkers, and save the day—mostly without breaking anything else.

Central to Pink Parrot’s ethos is bringing entertaining and conversation-sparking stories for family audiences around the world to enjoy together, and we’re excited to have found two new titles that will deliver just that… Ultraduck brings strong in-built global awareness, nostalgia and a fresh spin on superhero movies, so we’re sure it will delight both kids and adults alike.

PPM’s slate for EFM also includes the recently completed Norbert, which has just been released in Spain by Buena Vista International, alongside two titles now in production Unstable and The Bottanix. Additionally, PPM will also be presenting the 2D feature Black Butterflies, which is endorsed by the UN to denounce the abandonment of climate refugees, and was selected for festivals including Annecy International Animation Festival 2024 and International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam 2024. Black Butterflies has won multiple awards, including ‘Best Feature Film Animation’ at Premios Forqué and ‘Best Animated Film’ at Premios Gaudí, and it mostly recently scooped ‘Best Animation Film’ at last weekend’s Goya Awards.

During EFM, PPM will be at the Canadian Pavilion (Stand #153) at the Martin-Gropius-Bau.
