Peter Jackson Announced As Judge For Sofa.com Comeptition
Peter Jackson has been confirmed to join the judging panel for sofa.com’s short film competition ‘Filmed with Happiness’. Peter is an award winning Director, Producer and Screenwriter, best known for the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, King Kong, Heavenly Creatures, and The Adventures of Tintin. Acting as an honorary judge alongside four industry experts, Peter will help to choose a winner and three runners-up from the shortlist in April 2014. Peter will be accompanied by fellow judges Billy Macqueen; Co-director at Darrall Macqueen Ltd, Robert Jefferson; Head of Film Making at Northumbria University, Merlin Crossingham; Creative Director for Wallace & Grommit at Aardman Animations and Laura Driver; mummy blogger at Are We Nearly There Yet Mummy.
The competition, which launched in November last year, invites film-makers and animators of all levels of experience to create a short film (15-30 seconds long) based on the theme of happiness aimed at a children’s audience. Entrants must submit their short film by 31st March, and stand to win a first prize of £3,000 or one of three runner-up prizes of £1,000. They’ll also be promoting the winning entries through on and offline PR and on their website.
