The course takes place over 4 weeks and on those 4 weeks you’ll be able to learn about:

1 – Stop motion or stop frame animation.

2 – 2D or cel animation.

3 – Big-scale animation in the real world.

4 – CGI or 3D computer animation.

“This free online course gives a brilliant insight into the different techniques used in making animated film and telling a great story.”

Ruth Fielding, Managing Director and Co-Founder, Lupus Films

The course also includes the expertise of 3 tutors that have much experience within the film industry in general. The tutors on the course include:

  • Pete Fraser is the Project Lead on the NFTS BFI Film Academy residential course for young filmmakers.
  • Jon Wardle is the Director of Curriculum at the National Film and Television School.
  • Tom Woodcock (course mentor) works as a teacher of film, media and digital media with a background in art house cinema exhibition, installation and production.

NFTS has given rise to some great animation alumni including Nick Park (Creator of Wallace & Gromit), Mark Baker (Peppa Pig, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom) and Tony Collingwood (The Secret Show) and so a course like this sounds like a great way to introduce those who are interested in animation but don’t know where to start.
