BBC Studios Kids & Family announce new series ‘My Friend Maisy’

BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions and Trustbridge Entertainment have joined forces on My Friend Maisy, a 2D animated series starring the globally-loved titular character and her friends from the bestselling book series. The exciting new co-production is based on the Maisy books, written and illustrated by Lucy Cousins, which have sold more than 46 million copies worldwide and won the hearts of young children and their families everywhere.

My Friend Maisy lead writer Matilda Tristram (Peppa Pig) will bring Maisy, a preschooler’s BEST friend, to life like never before—with audiences getting to hear her talk, giggle, and sing for the very first time. The 52 x 5’ animated series follows the adventures of Maisy, who can go anywhere and do anything—whether it’s fixing a car in her garage, flying a rocket to the moon, or slipping into a dreamscape of squiggles when she’s eating spaghetti for dinner. Big or small, Maisy does it all!
For decades, the Maisy books have captivated children with their endearing characters, charming, simple tales and vibrant art style. Like the popular books, the new series will feature stories that are highly engaging, yet calm, warm, and easy, without lots of noise or conflict. My Friend Maisy is a show for any time of day – before bed, in the car, or during family together time on the couch.
My Friend Maisy pushes the boundaries of classic preschool storytelling with stories that slip seamlessly between the real and the surreal, like a child’s imagination.
