Morph Gets “Re-Invented” With Ricky!
It has been a pretty fabulous week for Aardman animations. Not only did the mere mention of Wallace and Gromit caused uproar and laughter in the house of commons when Chancellor George Osborne announced that UK animators were to receive much needed tax relief (mainly thanks to the efforts of Miles Bullough and Animation UK head Oli Hyatt) but also because Peter Lords Pirates! has had its premier, and the little terracotta blob of plasticine that started it all is back!
Morph – the character created by Peter Lord and David Sproxton made his debut in 1977 co-starring alongside the late, great Tony Hart, famous for getting many generations of children excited about art and creativity with his programme Take Hart. Of course Morph went on to feature in kids shows Hartbeat, Smart Hart and SMart. He was last revived for the hit BBC show “Ashes to Ashes”
Alongside his cantankerous cream coloured cousin Chas, Morph returns for a one off special “Ricky’s Radical Reinventions”, a brand new show in which animator and reinventor Ricky Martin shows CBBC viewers how to make stuff they take for granted, using everyday objects from around the home. In this programme he explores sound and shows how to make your own loudspeaker.
What Ricky doesn’t know is that Morph and Chas are living in the back of his van – and just as you’d expect, the mischievous mates get up to shenanigans while Ricky is on his quest to make the biggest set of loudspeakers possible using cardboard, magnets and balloons.
Ricky’s Radical Reinventions will air on CBBC on Monday 26 March at 6.15pm. Find out more about the show at http://www.rickys-radical-reinventions.com/
