Michèle Lemieux exhibition to be held in Paris
The work of renowned children’s book illustrator and animator Michèle Lemieux will be honoured in a special exhibition that takes place at the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris from today until September 2, 2016. The exhibition, entitled The Whole and its Parts: From Drawings to Animated Films is organised by curator Angela Grauerholz, produced by the Centre de design at the Universiteì du Queìbec aÌ Montreìal (UQAM, where it is set to return following its Paris run until October 30th) and is presented by the Centre national du cineìma et de l’image animeìe in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada.
Focusing primarily on the sketchbooks Lemieux kept during the development of her acclaimed NFB films Stormy Night (2003) and the pinscreen-animated Here and the Great Elsewhere (2012) in partial tribute to the medium’s inventors Alexandre Alexeïeff and Claire Parker, the exhibition will also display early sketches and pinscreen experiments for her upcoming new film Le tableau. and a replica pinscreen device (presently the only functional pinscreen remains at the NFB since its acquisition in 1972).

The artist previously presented a pinscreen workshop during Annecy’s 2015 edition.
