During its festival run the film has picked up numerous awards including a British Animation Award for best short film and the McLaren award at its premier at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2013. With the McLaren Award prize money Please and his directing partner Dan Ojari produced The Jolly Dot in homage to the awards presenter Richard Williams, musician Ivor Cutler and the awards namesake Norman McLaren. Daniel Ojari, fellow RTS graduate and director of Slow Derek and Mikey Please have also launched Parabella Animation Studio where the duo intend to continue working together on commercial and personal projects.
