London International Animation Festival 2016 award winners announced

The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) returned to the Barbican last week for ten days of animation screenings, special events, talks and forums, screen talks. Having presented over 200 of the best new, archive and retrospective animated shorts and features from around the world, tonight saw the announcement of this year’s award winners ahead of the festival’s final, non-competitive events tomorrow.

The full list of grand prize winners are as follows:

Best Abstract: Sai Gon (Oerd van Cuijlenborg)

Best British Animation: Johnno’s Dead (Chris Shepherd)

Best of Festival: Before Love (Igor Kovyalov)

Best Performance: Jukai (Gabrielle Lissot)

Best Sound Design: Otto – Nicola Ariutti (Salvatore Murgia & Dario Imbrogno)

Each screening category also featured a judges’ and audience vote, which has been tallied to reveal which films stood out the most:

International Competition 1 – From Absurd to Zany
