Leeds International Film Festival Announces its Short Film Competition Prizes
Leeds International Film Festival is proud to announce its prizes for the 28th Leeds International Film Festival. LIFF is a qualifying film festival for both the Academy Awards® and BAFTAs. LIFF is now considering films for the Louis Le Prince International Short Film Competition, and The World Animation Award. The winning film in each competition will receive a cash prize of £2000
LIFF is also accepting submissions for the BAFTA qualifying British Short Film Competition, which has a winning prize of £1000, and the Yorkshire and Dance Short Film Competitions, which each have a winning prize of £500.
Submissions are also open for the Fanomenon Silver Melies Fantasy Short Film Award. The winner of the competition goes forward to compete for the coveted Méliès d’Or prize at Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in October. LIFF has also opened submissions for Dead Short – A new competition for horror shorts. Entries are welcome from anywhere in the world but must be 10 minutes or less and have a strong horror theme.
In addition to the short films, feature-length fiction films and documentaries can also be submitted. The full line-up for LIFF27 can be viewed online at leedsfilm.com.
LIFF supports new innovative filmmaking from a broad, international diversity of sources. LIFF prioritises the screening of outstanding work that has not yet received the attention it deserves and there is no premiere policy for selection.
The next deadline for submissions to the 28th Leeds International Film Festival is August 1st. The Late deadline is August 29th.
