Altrincham-based multi genre animation studio Factory (formerly Factory Transmedia) reveals a bold new rebrand and website which is to be rolled out across all of its platforms following a period of remarkable growth for the company, demonstrating a strong focus on developing its own intellectual property and rights management portfolio.

The strong brand, devised by Manchester’s Instruct Studio, reflects Factory’s success and ambition; the company has fast become a major player in the animation industry, working with CBBC and CBeebies, Disney and more. The studio is building a reputation for quality following a succession of new commissions from major national and international broadcasters, and producing work to high critical acclaim.

Notably Strange Hill High, Factory’s co-production with CBBC and Fremantle Kids and Family Entertainment, recently won an RTS North West award plus was nominated for an International Emmy Kids award in the Animation category, and a Children’s Bafta. In addition Factory is currently in production with the stop motion animation Scream Street, a co-production with CBBC and Coolabi, plus We Wish You a Merry Walrus for Disney, which is a mix of stop-motion and CGI animation.

Manchester design studio Instruct was appointed to lead direction for the rebrand and over the course of six months worked extensively with Factory learning in the process about their unique full-service offering, innovation and agnostic approach.

The studio works in CGI, 2D animation, digital animation and stop motion. Over the past 18 months it has significantly grown its staff and is due to move into bespoke new office space, where the brand will also be rolled out. It will also expand digitally in the new space with 70 new workstations, fully equipped with Maya and Adobe creative cloud, plus new music and edit suites, essential to their full service approach.

The new brand, including a new logo and website (www.factorycreate.com)is intended to grow with Factory as it moves into new business areas both at home and internationally, pushing to the forefront its forward-thinking approach, the quality of delivery and the studio’s eclectic mixed media response to projects.

John Owens, creative director of Instruct, comments: ‘We wanted to showcase that Factory are a workshop of creativity, they never sit still and not only create bright and fun animation but also deliver real innovation with their flexible approach. We looked at the founders roots in industrial design and created a bespoke typeface based on traditional stonemason signage.’

Phil Chalk, managing director of Factory, comments: ‘This is an extremely exciting time for everyone at Factory, we are incredibly proud of our quality output and growth and have huge plans for the future.

‘Working with Instruct we have developed a brand that defines the company we are now and looks to the future.’
