Up and coming Blinkink director Jac Clinch has brought to life a strange and wonderful story about an ancient civilisation of crows indigenous to Mars. Jac transplanted the lyrics of Police Dog Hogan’s Here Comes Crow to the red planet in his 2D animated rendition of the song. We follow the story of an astronaut who is tormented and ultimately sent mad by a mysterious crow. It is unknown as to how the crow comes to be on the planet and for a while, if it is even real.

As the tale unfolds, the astronaut discovers the lost valley of the crows, sharing a planet that he thought was solely populated by a few humans. The question – ‘Is there life on Mars?’ has been answered with a resounding ‘yes’ but by no means quite what you’d expect.

There are subtle mythological influences in Jac’s storytelling. Crows can often be seen as a sign of bad things to come or in other mythologies they can be messengers from the gods. For the astronauts, the crow has caused havoc. They ate their only living plants on the planet and worse made the captain lose his mind.

Jac was forbidden in the brief from showing the astronauts faces and he has brought a great deal of detail and emotion to using their body language to so articulately tell the story. The video was created for Americana band Police Dog Hogan’s newly released single Here Comes Crow. Which comes straight from the band’s fifth studio album Overground.
