Hasbro buys Boulder Media
Hasbro, the toy makers behind Transformers, My Little Pony and Mr Potato Head have purchased Dublin based studio Boulder Media.
UK readers will know Boulder Media as the team who recently animated the new Danger Mouse for Freemantle Media and the BBC as well as servicing animated shows such as Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Wander Over Yonder and Go Jetters. Founded in 2000 by Robert Cullen, Peter Lewis and Anne Tweedy the company has a staff of over 150 people and the purchase notes the first time that Hasbro have owned an animation studio, as historically they have licensed their properties out to other companies to animate.
Hasbro chairman-CEO Brian Goldner said of the deal:
“With Boulder, we will deliver the highest quality animation that will engage our audiences with deep storytelling and great characters in a very cost-efficient manner,”
Boulder will keep their company name and begin working on Hasbro property. Boulder Media creative director Robert Cullen said:
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring to life the Hasbro stories and characters that mean so much to our team, and join a company that’s emerging as an entertainment powerhouse,”
The company recently released Fresh Cut Grass online which you can watch here. They have also within the last week completed their final episode of the first season of the new Danger Mouse.
