Haptic Animation Amplifier Kickstarter Launched

Haptic Animation Amplifier will be a one-stop shop for animators expanding their independent careers, and for outsiders learning about animation in the Pacific Northwest.

BIG PICTURE:
In the Pacific Northwest there is a great history of independent animation (legend Bruce Bickford, Oscar winners Joan Gratz and Will Vinton) as well as a vibrant community making work today (Portland independents Laura Heit, Rose Bond and Seattle animators Stefan Gruber, Clyde Petersen, and Whidbey-based Drew Christie, as well as the whole of the Seattle Experimental Animation Team).
After spending some time in Europe founder Tess Martin came to realize at how much of a disadvantage her fellow animators in Seattle were. She already had the experience of curating and touring with two programs of SEAT animations, why not expand, and make it official?

WHAT WILL HAPTIC DO?
Haptic will continue to distribute NW work through tours of short film programs, but it will also get the animators in touch with their own history by offering a timeline of Pacific Northwest animation on its website, and compiling a database of every animated film ever made.
They will also offer professional development resources such as how to work the animation festival circuit, information about animation courses worldwide and deadlines for grants. Long term Haptic hopes to offer its own animation events in Seattle and small grants for the creation of new work.

SUMMARY:
Haptic Animation Amplifier will help launch the already vibrant independent animation scene in the Pacific Northwest into the global arena. It is a new Seattle-based non-profit, fiscally sponsored through the NW Film Forum.
