Glen Keane steps into the page at FoST
A fascinating five-minute video created to coincide with his upcoming appearance at the Future of Storytelling (FoST) summit next month sees Glen Keane demonstrating the amazing possibilities of digital painting in a simulated 3D environment. The summit, an invitation-only event that will take place in New York, will bring together leading experts in the fields of media, entertainment and advertising to explore the evolution of storytelling from a number of perspectives, from creative to financial. Glen Keane, who last year delved into the world of immersive, interactive storytelling with his groundbreaking Google Spotlight Stories film Duet, will be discussing animation’s potential in the realm of VR storytelling.
The short film above showcases the tremendous capabilities of the HTC Vive headset in conjunction with Tilt Brush (a 3D painting app recently purchased by Google), through which Keane is able to ‘paint’ life-sized, three-dimensional versions of his iconic Disney characters Ariel and Beast.
