It’s our two-year BAM-iversay! 🎂

It is time to come out and socialise once again 💥

📣 This time around we’re at our usual spot at King Street Brew House on Wednesday September 25th from 7pm. We will have the right side of the pub when you walk up the stairs.

📣 For the first portion of the evening, eventgoers can schedule in one-to-one chats with local animation professionals spanning a variety of industry roles, who will be on hand to offer any advice, feedback, guidance or just have a friendly natter. One-To-Ones will take place in the Tank Room (downstairs).

Laura Jayne Perkins

Laura is a Bristol based designer and beer enthusiast working at Sun & Moon

Laura has been working in the industry for 6 years, covering all roles from clean up animator to lead character designer for studios including Blinkink, Gigglebug and Wildseed Studios

Laura’s designs range from complex fantasy to modern graphic, and in her 1:1 she will emphasise the importance of adaptablilty as a designer working in the industry.

She is happy to discuss:

Marnik Loysen

Marnik is a Bristol based stop-motion animator and filmmaker who has been working at Aardman features for 8 years on projects such as Chicken Run 2, Robin Robin, Shaun the Sheep, Early Man and recently the new Wallace and Gromit film. He works as the Supervising Assistant Animator.

Between projects Marnik works on his own projects including his short film Brunch, which played in over 30 festivals worldwide.

Marta Dias

Marta is a Bristol based 2D animator at Rumpus, specialising in hand drawn animation, character design and, occasionally storyboarding.

With nearly 7 years experience in the industry, she has worked as a character animator in games such as Battletoads and Disney Illusion Island, lead animator on two Greenpeace projects, created the most heavy metal of all the Rumpus idents and recently had her first animation director role within the studio.

She is most of all a fan of drawing and will try her best to find the time for life drawing or just draw from life whenever possible, believing it to be an essential practice for an animator.

Grace Harris

Grace is a Bristol based Production Coordinator working at @sunandmoon_animation and a lead organiser for BAM. They’ve worked across many different-sized projects from game cutscenes & trailers, nature documentaries and pre-school shows.

Some of Grace’s highlight projects include working on the Disney Game Illusion Island, Warner Brothers game MultiVersus, Sky Kids Pip & Posy Lets Learn and currently the kids show Maddie & Triggs (along with a bunch of NDA projects coming out soon).

Jake Harvey

Jake is a Bristol-based lead animator working at Scribble Room. He’s been animating for 10 years at studios across the UK, including A Productions, Sun and Moon, Rumpus, Tiger Aspect, Blue Zoo, Sixteen South, Daily Madness and Cloth Cat Animation.

His speciality is rigged 2D animation, specifically acted character animation within a sequence, and is experienced in a wide range of software such as CelAction, ToonBoom, Adobe Animate and even a bit of 2D animation in Blender.

Some of his favourite things he’s worked on are the animated series of Mr Bean, It’s Pony, and several 48-hour animated film challenges (tough but fun!)

If you just want to hang then come on over to catch up with friends new and old, clink glasses, mend rifts and spin yarns. BAM welcomes all members of the Bristol animation community, professionals, students, hobbyists and enthusiasts alike.
