Disney XD to Reboot DuckTales
DuckTales (a wooo-oooo) is returning to TV with brand new episodes to air on Disney XD sometime in 2017.
The beloved series originally ran from 1987 to 1990 and was repeated throughout everyone’s childhood. It followed the adventures of Donald Duck’s Uncle Scrooge McDuck and his great nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie as they embarked upon thrilling adventures, usually in an effort to top up Uncle Scrooge’s money vault/swimming pool or to prevent crooks from stealing the penny-pinching pekin’s fortune. The show had it all: race cars, lasers, aeroplanes – it was quite the duck-blur.
The series even spawned a movie DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, the first Disney animated feature to be released theatrically by Disneytoon studios who would go on to produce theatrical features and direct-to-video sequels for Disney animated features. The studio is still producing content today with recent releases being Planes: Fire and Rescue and the Tinkerbell films.
Deadline reports that the entire cast of favourites will return, so expect to be reacquainted with Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack. No news on the potential storylines yet, but they might solve a mystery or re-write history.
