Advent Animation 2014 – Dec 24: Feed Santa (Animade)
It’s Santa’s big night and he will need his energy for the long ride around the world. You probably didn’t know that Santa not only made presents, but he also eats them! Animade has created a delightful interactive website where you can feed Santa before his big night. The video above is just a preview. Interesting moment, fact or point of inspiration from your production:
In the beginning the goal was going to be feeding Santa up to save Christmas. However a glitch appeared in the code at one point during development that made his eyes open wide and flinch a little after eating. It just felt right that he would explode at that point so we added the overlay and the splat sfx and it was so. It was a Christmas miracle.
What special holiday treat would you bring to the Animator’s Holiday Party?
I would bring a huge vat of homemade Eggnog. You can’t beat it (I think I just made an accidental egg pun).
One favorite holiday memory from your childhood?
It would have to be the year that Santa bought my Brother and I our Sega Megadrive. From what I remember it was probably the most excited I have ever been.
What’s one thing you are looking forward to in the new year?
Doing more playful interactive projects that are full of character and joy.
