Advent Animation 2014 – Dec 23: Rudolph (Romy Yao)
In this simple yet lovely piece of character animation, Romy Yao shows us the cheerful effects a spark of affection can have on a sad someone. May your nose turn a cheery shade red this Christmas!
Some holiday musings from the creator, Romy:
Interesting moment, fact or point of inspiration from your production:
It was around Christmas time and I just happened to be doodling a little boy with reindeer horns, this tiny story was born as a comic strip!
Then I liked it pretty much and wanted to animate it. It’s quite simple.
What special holiday treat would you bring to the Animator’s Holiday Potluck Party?
Ooh, food. I would either do some french Saint-Emilion macaroons which are not that well known, but succulent. Or some toffeyish-peanut-butterish-chocolaty pretzels sweets. I like to cook sugary things ♥
One favorite holiday memory from your childhood?
Well, it’s not exactly childhood but it was the beginning of my art studies, waiting for our first Christmas as art student we used to do our homework at the Starbucks next to school, with the Christmas carols as a musical background and the hot chocolate. It was a wonderful time ♥
What’s one thing you are looking forward to in the new year?
Thrilling and unexpected projects (with exciting people) I hope!
#AdventAnimation is a daily showcase of holiday themed animation. If you are working on something with a touch of holiday cheer that will be released sometime between 1 December and Christmas Eve, drop me a note and I will put it into consideration.
