Dec 22: Blue Zoo Christmas (Blue Zoo)
One of the most visually stunning and carefully crafted of this year’s selection, this tightly packaged story from Blue Zoo is a gem. The main character reminds me of the carved and painted nativity figurines my mother pulls out of the attic every year. Blue Zoo has been making a few Christmas spots for other companies, but it’s clear their hearts are with this little star.
From Animation Director Ben Steer:
Interesting moment, fact or point of inspiration from your production:
The element of this project that left the greatest impression on me was actually the passion and energy that the team brought. I’m amazed at how far my scribbled, messy idea progressed and that’s largely thanks to them.
Most memorable Christmas moment:
They all pretty much merge together – my memory’s terrible. But they were always amazing. I pretty much knew what I was getting every year after haranguing my poor mum for months beforehand, even going so far as to bookmark Argos catalogue pages for her. Anything I could do to help.
At the top of the Christmas list:
I’m a sucker for gadgets and I have far too many, so i don’t really have a wishlist. Just something that’s a surprise, cheap and I can build. I’ve just realized I’ve described a kinder egg. So i guess I want a kinder egg for Christmas.
