Dec 14: To Give a Present (Kirsten Lepore)
One of the wonderful things about animation is the way a small, subtle movement can contain a world of character. With only simple clay shapes as characters, animator Kirsten Lepore works her magic with impeccable timing and expressive poses in this short piece for the children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba.
Interesting moment, fact or point of inspiration from your production:
There’s one shot in there, the close up of the blue guy icing the cookies, where I had to animate my own hands with gloves on…except no one was around to help me shoot, so I ended up having to hold really still, put my usb shooting keypad on the floor, and take frames by pressing enter with my big toe.
Most memorable Christmas moment:
Every year on Christmas Eve, I get to see my whole extended Italian family on my Dad’s side and (besides the company) the food is the best part! We observe “Feast of the Seven Fishes” and get to gorge ourselves on shrimp, lobster, fried flounder, and clams galore. It’s awesome.
At the top of the Christmas list:
Ahhh the older I get the less I pay attention to the things I need/want for Christmas. I’m terrible at it now! I really need a nice pair of brown leather boots, but I’m so picky that I’ll have to get them for myself 😉
#AdventAnimation is a daily showcase of holiday themed animation. If you are working on something with a touch of holiday cheer that will be released sometime between 1 December and Christmas Eve, drop me a note and I will put it into consideration.
