The audience will decide the SHORTS FOR KIDS COMPETITION (18 movies from 12. countries) and competitive DIGITAL WORLD PANORAMA (20 movies from 15 countries).
CRAFT is like a tree. In 2017 it sprouted its roots. In 2018, it will release the first leaves. Competitions are the bough of the festival; branches of accompanying programs depart from it. This year, we’ll look at contemporary animation from the Country of Cherry Blossoms, thanks to the collaboration with Tokyo University of the Arts and the New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival, while our special guides of Japan will be real masters: Koji Yamamura (Mt. Head as one of the Opening Movie) and Osamu Kobayashi (lecture about Japanese Anime). In turn, thanks to cooperation with the LINOLEUM Festival, and withe the kind permission of Dovzhenko Centre, we will see pearls of Ukrainian stop motion animation. French crafts will be represented by three award-winning feature-length films: FUNAN, THE GIRL WITHOUT HANDS and WARDI. The Indonesian premiere of the real masterpiece of the 21st century, This Magnificent Cake! (Emma De Swaef, Marc James Roels) will be one of the unforgettable moments of the festival. Also at CRAFT ’19 we will see the animated documentaries from the Rising of Lusitania Festival and we will consider whether such a combination is even possible? Moreover, Jamie Vickers will present his Animation Portfolio, Firman Widyasmara and his Lanting Animation Studio will lead the workshop for children and masterclass for students, Mariia Snisarenko will exhibit her works.
The fact that the first leaves will appear on the II CRAFT tree can be proved by the festival’s main theme, which is SHADOW, which will be realized in the documentary about Lotte Reiniger, the lecture OF SHADOWS & THE SHADOWY: WAYANG, ANIMATION & CINEMA (Lecture by Hassan Abd Muthalib), and the performing by Wayang Cinema group.
