Christopher Nolan’s Quay Brothers documentary to premiere in August
Christopher Nolan, whose feature film credits include Inception, the Dark Knight trilogy and Interstellar, has turned his hand to documentary shorts with Quay, set to debut in New York next month.
The film profiles the legendary stop-motion duo Stephen and Timothy Quay, known collectively as The Quay Brothers, whose films include The Comb (1990), Street of Crocodiles (1986) and In Absentia, all three of which will play alongside the documentary’s August 19th debut at New York’s Film Forum. The Quay Brothers are set to attend the screenings in person from the 19th-22nd. The event precedes a proposed Bluray release through Syncopy/Zeitgeist anthologising the pair’s work, curated by Nolan with a planned US release of October 20th.
On this side of the pond both Stephen and Timothy will be special guests of the Bristol Festival of Puppetry, with a special retrospective and onstage chat with festival curator Joseph Wallace on Thursday 27th August at the Watershed. The duo have also created a special installation for the festival which will be found at the Redcliffe Bascule Bridge Control Room.
