Cardiff Animation Nights announce first ever CAN Awards

On the heels of their final online screening of 2023, the Cardiff Animation Nights team have announced their first ever CAN Awards will take place Wednesday 6th December at 8pm at The Underdog in Cardiff.
Having received hundreds of films across the world following their call for submissions at the end of 2022, a jury of eleven animation industry professionals have whittled a shortlist of eleven CAN Award nominees from the officially selected films that screened over the course of the year. The prizewinner will be determined by an audience vote on the night and receive a bespoke trophy created by Sculpt Double.
This year was the first time that we opened submissions for Cardiff Animation Nights and we received hundreds of films from all over the world! Our jury of 11 industry professionals selected their favourite film from each month’s screening throughout the year.

- UNDER THE ENDLESS SKY – Dir. Alexandra Dzhiganskaya (Ukraine)

Cardiff Animation Nights is run by a team of animators and animation lovers in Cardiff, led by Ellys Donovan and Lauren Orme, with help and support from numerous individuals and organisations from the animation community in Cardiff and further afield.
