Cardiff Animation Festival ident revealed!
The Cardiff Animation Festival, set to take place in April of next year, has recently unveiled its festival ident:
The collaborative animation project was set up as part of the festival’s second taster event Late Night Work Club Special on July 22nd, following their Lotte Reiniger Special on June 24th. LNWC Special attendees were invited to colour in and embellish individual frames of animation that were edited together to create the ident above.
The day-long event was capped off by a special panel discussion chaired by Skwigly’s own Ben Mitchell, featuring Nicolas Ménard (Wednesday With Goddard), Conor Finnegan (Asshole), Louise Bagnall (Loose Ends) and Eimhin McNamara of Paper Panther Productions – plus a very special surprise appearance via Skype from LA-based director Kirsten Lepore (Hi Stranger). followed by an audience Q&A.
The new Cardiff Animation Festival will be run by the team at Cardiff Animation Nights (CAN), who have been running animation events in Cardiff since 2014 including a dedicated animation strand at Cardiff Independent Film Festival for the past two years. The bimonthly Cardiff Animation Nights, which used to take place at 10 Feet Tall, recently moved to Cardiff’s Kongs to accommodate growing audiences for animation in the city.
