Dublin Animation Film Festival are delighted to announce that Boulder Media, one of Dublin’s largest animation studios is sponsoring a three-month paid internship for a student or graduate who is submitting a short film to Dublin Animation Film Festival. This paid internship is part of Boulder Media’s campaign to nurture new talent in the animation industry.

Robert Cullen, the Founder and Creative Director of Boulder Media had this to say:

I was delighted when my short film ‘Fresh Cut Grass’ won the Audience Choice Award several years ago at Dublin Animation Film Festival. I still have the beautiful trophy in my office! We are currently working on several exciting projects, including a theatrical 3D feature film. It is great to see Dublin Animation Film Festival returning to the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire in October. Boulder Media fully support the ethos of the festival, which has always been focused on encouraging the next generation of animators.

Boulder Media is an Irish animation company based in Dublin. The company was established in 2000 and since then we have gone on to become one of Ireland’s largest animation studios, attracting high profile projects from across the globe and working with leading broadcasters such as Cartoon Network, Disney and the BBC. Some of the shows produced by Boulder Media are The Amazing World of Gumball, Hasbro’s Transformers and Danger Mouse for the BBC. In late 2016 Boulder Media was acquired by Hasbro. We  currently have a staff of 380 split across our two Dublin studios. The Sandymount studio produces all our TV work, while our second studio, in Hawkins Street, Dublin 2 is handling all of our CGI feature work.

Fionnghuala Ní Néill, the Festival Director commented:

Last year, we were approached by Boulder Media to ask what they could do to support the festival in a practical way. The DAFF team would like to thank them for their very generous support. We are delighted to have them as a sponsor again this year and for offering this internship as a prize. We would like to thank Rob Cullen and in particular Fiona Healy from Boulder Media for their interest and enthusiasm for the festival – support of this kind really does make a difference.
