Blinkink’s Stevie Gee & Essy May visualise ‘Urethane’ for The Range

The Range (aka James Hinton) has released his first album in six years named Mercury, with visuals for the whole album being conceptualised and crafted by Blinkink’s Stevie Gee & Essy May.
The music video for Mercury’s stand out track Urethane follows a set of twins on their journey to seek mercury on another planet; the most sought after commodity in this beautifully animated world. Ruled by the mercury man, eventually the characters morph into him after being consumed by all of his power.
As the story unfolds we see themes of change, decay, growth and rebirth which is reflected in the style of the background designs created by Essy May. The video effortlessly presents a feeling of movement and flow with the use of iridescent textures and a soft colour palette that resemble the tones of beautiful sunsets. Paired with Stevie Gee’s designs, the combination of world and character fit perfectly into this strange brought to life by the directing duo.
With previous work for Drake, Young Thug, Q Tip, Lil Simz, Mastodon and Idris Alba, Stevie Gee & Easy May are constantly pushing their visual style and world building into new realms whilst working with the best artists around.
