ICO and Astley Baker Davies take ‘The Big Knights’ on Tour!
The Independent Cinema Office (ICO) have teamed up with Astley Baker Davies to put together a newly-remastered feature film compilation of Neville Astley and Mark Baker’s much-loved BBC children’s series The Big Knights. The film brings together a selection of adventures personally selected by its creators.
In the far off land of Borovia, where dragons are fierce, witches are wicked, scientists are insane, the economy is bad and television is in black & white, stands Castle Big, home of The Big Knights…
Follow the adventures and ensuing mayhem of brothers Sir Boris (the finest swordsman in the World), Sir Morris (not the finest swordsman in the World, but the most enthusiastic) and their armour-plated noble pets, Sir Horace the Dog and Sir Doris the Hamster, a small rodent with an enormous appetite. Narrated by Alexander Armstrong and voiced with bellicose charm by Brian Blessed (Sir Morris) and David Rintoul (Sir Boris), the brothers are the height of two men, the weight of four and the strength of sixteen. They right wrongs, rescue princesses and woe betide anything that gets in their way! Endowed with all the wit and charm familiar to audiences of Peppa Pig, The Big Knights gallantry is hilarious and immensely endearing.
As with the creative team’s other successful properties such as Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, the universe of The Big Knights pairs a universally appealing children’s aesthetic with thoughtful humour, satire and observation in the storytelling. The film, which boasts a strong voice cast including Alexander Armstrong, Brian Blessed and Prunella Scales, will be touring throughout in cinemas throughout the UK starting on October 23rd, and with it a wide variety of exclusive workshop materials and educational resources that can be accessed via the film’s official site.
A full list of screening dates can be found at the ICO website.
