BBC teases a first look at its animated version of Sir Quentin Blake’s timeless British classic books, in a major new series, narrated by Adrian Lester.

The first look reveals an exclusive snippet of Jack and Nancy, a tale of fun, friendship and adventure. Families across the UK will be able to watch the first two specials, Jack and Nancy and Zagazoo, as a festive treat this December.

All episodes of Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures will be narrated by Adrian Lester, with local Welsh talent leading voice roles in Jack and Nancy and Simon Pegg leading the voice roles in Zagazoo.

Simon Pegg will also lead voice roles in Snuff and Angel Pavement, with Alison Steadman starring as the voice of the indomitable Mrs Armitage and Nina Sosanya bringing Angela Bowling to life in Loveykins.

The landmark animated box set of hand-picked specials is based on six iconic best-selling books (Jack and Nancy, Zagazoo, Loveykins, Snuff, Angel Pavement and Mrs Armitage on Wheels) by one of Britain’s most illustrious and well-loved authors, Sir Quentin Blake. Created with traditional hand-drawn animation techniques to capture the iconic nature of Quentin Blake’s stories, Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures will add to BBC’s long-established tradition of animated specials.

Theseries is directed by Gerrit Bekers working to Eagle Eye’s creative director for animation Massimo Fenati.
