Asian Animation Summit Throws in a Wild Card Entry Plan
Kidscreen is pleased to announce the launch of a brand-new Wild Card program that will give all animation studios based in Asia and Australasia a chance at being selected to present a project at the third-annual Asian Animation Summit, taking place this year in Hanoi, Vietnam from December 3 to 5.
In previous years, eligibility was limited to companies based in regions represented by the event’s screen agency partners. But the Wild Card program is open to companies operating in every region of Asia and Australasia. Detailed eligibility guidelines and instructions for submitting projects are available at http://www.asiananimationsummit.com/content/2014/files/aas_eligibility_criteria_2014.pdf.
Wild Card submission packages will be accepted until Friday, October 3 and should be sent to the attention of Kidscreen Publisher Jocelyn Christie (jchristie@brunico.com). Kidscreen’s esteemed editorial team will review all submissions received, selecting as many as three to be included in the Asian Animation Summit showcase and presented live at the event.
An initiative of KOCCA (Korea), MDeC (Malaysia), SIPA and DITP (Thailand), AAS 2014 is owned and produced by Kidscreen, and supported by Screen Australia. Its organizers are anticipating that 200 to 250 attendees will take part this year. The event is designed to attract producers of animation who are interested in co-producing projects with Asian partners, as well as Asian broadcasters, distributors and investors from Asia and beyond.
Over the course of the three-day event, 24 projects from Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia and elsewhere in Asia that are brand-new to the market and looking for financing and partners will be presented. And each day will begin with a highly informative panel discussion or presentation that explores new market trends, business models or creative techniques that are most relevant to Asian producers.
