Annecy Unveils Full Programme

Following last month’s reveal of Annecy 2015‘s official short film selections, today the festival has announced a fully detailed line-up of additional events and highlights to look forward to. Chief among them are the Feature Films in Competition, which are as follows:

  • April and the Twisted World (Dir. Christian Desmares/Franck Ekinci, France)
  • Long Way North (Dir. Rémi Chaye, France/Denmark)
  • Miss Hokusai (Dir. Keiichi Hara, Japan)
  • Mune (Dir. Alexandre Heboyan/Benoît Philippon, France/Canada)
  • Possessed (Dir. Sam, Spain)
  • Sabogal (Dir. Juan José Lozano/Sergío Mejía Forero, Colombia)
  • The Case of Hana and Alice (Dir. Shunji Iwai, Japan)

Also presented Out of Competition will be the feature films:

  • Banished (Dir. Diego Guerra, Columbia)
  • Dragon Nest: Warriors’ Dawn (Dir. Yuefend Song, China)
  • Eden’s Edge (Dir. Gerhard Treml/Leo Calice, Austria/USA)

  • Mortadelo and Filemon: Mission Implausible (Dir. Javier Fesser, Spain)
  • Little From the Fish Shop (Dir. Jan Balej, Czech Republic)
  • Rocks In My Pockets (Dir. Signe Baumane, USA/Latvia)
  • Stand By Me Doraemon (Dir. Yagi Ruchi/Takashi Yamazaki, Japan)

Amongst the special events of the festival will be a series of presentations focusing on Spanish animation, special screenings of Frozen Fever, Minions, Ghost In The Shell, Inside Out, an exclusive first look at footage from The Good Dinosaur as well as a rare opportunity to view Richard Williams‘ intended cut of The Thief and The Cobbler with the director himself in attendance.

Additionally audiences will be able to glean special creative insight from ongoing projects such as Steve Martino’s Peanuts The Movie, Claude Barras’s My Life as a Zucchini, Michael Dudok de Wit‘s The Red Turtle and Dorota Kobiela’s Loving Vincent to name a few. This year’s edition will also grant special consideration toward some of the industry’s leading and most creatively gifted women animators, with an all-female jury comprised of Marge Dean, Guillemette Odicino and Valérie Schermann (features), with Niki Lindroth Von Bahr, Isabel Herguera and Bonnie Arnold (shorts). This year will also see a number of special themed screenings including a celebration of women who have won the coveted Annecy Cristal.

Midst the festival conferences will be a look at the animation approach taken with the Shaun the Sheep Movie, studio focuses on Cube, Weta Digital and MPC, artist-oriented events on Florence Mialhe (Honorary Cristal recipient), Sergio Pablos, Janet Perlman, Pierre Coffin, Guillermo Garcia Carsi and Stacey Steers, while over at MIFA the vast array of networking and business-oriented events will be headed up by keynote speeches from Chris Meladandri and Genndy Tartakovsky.
